Band Organization
If you don't see a position which matches your skills,
you can still volunteer.
You do not have to attend planning meetings, though you are welcome to do so.
We can do most things by email.
Board
The band board is composed of a small group of individuals who make plans and
decisions for the band.
The other positions in the band (as describe below) report into the board.
The current board members are:
Social Events Committee
The Social Events Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing social events for members of the events.
Some events which we have held in the past are ice cream socials and potluck dinners.
The current committee members are:
Logistics Committee
The Logistics Committee is responsible for organizing (not necessarily doing) the setup and teardown of the rehearsal and concert spaces.
This includes the collection, setup, and teardown of any equipment (especially sound equipment) needed for concerts.
The current committee members are:
Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations Committee is responsible for organizing (not necessarily doing) any public events and the advertising of those events.
This includes:
- Identifying and manning Info & Registration Events
- Other recruitment activities
- Advertising — including:
- Newspaper articles
- Facebook, Twitter, and other social media
- Community websites: IllinoisHomePage.net, http://www.news-gazette.com/calendar, http://will.illinois.edu/
- Registration and event posters: design and delivery
- Radio and TV stations
The current committee members are:
Music Committee
The Music Committee is responsible for tracking copies of music for the band.
This includes:
- Making copies of music to hand out to the band
- Sorting music into folders
- Handing out music
- Collecting and organizing music
- Tracking what how many of each part has been handed out
- Organizing the music library

The website maintain is responsible for maintaining the C.A.R. webite.

Records and publishes (on the C.A.R. website) the band history.

Photographers and records videos of the band concerts, social events, etc.

| Section Leaders

Each section has a section leader, assigned by the director.
The section leader is responsible for making sure that all parts are covered, particularly for concerts.
Section leaders may help to organize and direct section rehearsals, if the section feels that it is necessary.
Section leaders will be part of the calling tree.
In the event of a last minute change or cancellation, they will be responsible for contacting the others in their sections.
If a player will be absent during a rehearsal or concert, they should inform the section leader, band president, and band director.
The section leader should make sure that the band president knows about the absence.
Section leaders may be asked to do other minor tasks such as collecting music from the sections.

Board Chair
The board chair is responsible for training, overall coordination, and all activities not covered by other committees.
Director
The director is responsible for the following.
- Selecting music
- Works with board chair to select section leaders
- Content/ordering of performances
- Seating charts
- Collecting links to audio recordings to be placed on CAR website
